What is Hypnosis and how it works

Hypnosis is a natural state

You have probably been in hypnosis many times without knowing it. It happens to everybody, children and adults, in everyday life and on special occasions. Sometimes you feel a "hypnotic pleasure", but sometimes you are automatically hypnotised by some subconscious trigger into uncomfortable feelings. Phobias are a very good example, some trigger brings an irrational panic and it is like a trance.

Hypnosis is the original mind–body medicine. It has been in use forever; every natural mind–body healing is based, more or less, on hypnosis. The essence of hypnosis is the intense concentration on the chosen subject and the exclusion of everything else.

All hypnosis is self-hypnosis – only you can concentrate your mind on a chosen topic. To be hypnotised by somebody else you need to cooperate; nobody can hypnotise you against your will.

How does hypnosis work

During hypnosis you respond to suggestions which may change your life. Hypnosis manages to change the way your brain interprets experiences.  For the treatment of phobia, hypnosis is used to neutralise the triggers which are the cause of your panic. In this sense, the hypnotherapist helps you unhypnotize yourself from the negative irrational reactions.

When you are in hypnosis you are in a state of deep concentration. You are extremely focused and paying attention to the hypnotist’s words while ignoring everything else going on around you. The conscious mind is switched off and you can access the resources of your unconscious mind. The ideas and suggestions given by hypnotists are absorbed by your unconscious mind and become part of your acting and thinking. The deepest levels of your mind can be reached, the big storage of memories and feelings, and your perceptions, thoughts, behaviours and feelings can be changed.

How does it feel to be in hypnosis?

When you are in hypnosis, you are extremely focused and paying attention to the hypnotist's words while ignoring everything else around you. Because you are so focused, you may be feeling like being somewhere else, isolated from the surroundings. You may feel heavy or light, like floating. Some people feel warmth while some feel tingling in their bodies.

The experience is very pleasant, it feels wonderful – many clients are very reluctant to come back to normal state. You will know and remember what was happening. You will be in full control – you will be able to stop the session and leave hypnosis any time you want. However, since it is your own goal, you will be motivated to stay in hypnosis and cooperate.

Most people feel very relaxed and comfortable. At the beginning of the session you are usually given suggestions of relaxation and when you are experiencing hypnosis for the first time, you will be surprised how deeply relaxed you will feel after the session. My clients usually comment after the first session that they could not believe it was possible to achieve such complete relaxation.

Hypnosis allows to achieve a full body and mind relaxation, not comparable with any other techniques.

I always teach the powerful relaxation techniques and self hypnosis. You will be able to relax quickly in every situation in the future. This way you will keep extending your new freedom, achieving other goals. Self hypnosis and the ability to relax are very valued by all my clients who overcome the fear of flying.
